It’s been a long day’s travel, and the sun is just beginning to go down as you see an inn in the distance. As you draw closer, you see the sign of three feathers hanging outside, and notice that the place is unusually busy.

Inside, the inn is bustling. servants are hurrying to and fro, and the innkeeper is engrossed in conversation with a scribe who carries a visibly bulging purse. “Welcome,” he says at last, “I’m sorry to have kept you waiting for so long, but as you can see, we have a distinguished guest tonight—the Gravin Maria-Ulrike von Liebewitz of Ambosstein, no less…I hardly know whether I’m coming or going with it all. Now, then—you want a room? What am I saying, of course you do. Ah, excuse me again, I’ll only be a moment.” You wait for another few minutes as he directs a train of servants to the Gravin’s rooms. “So sorry,” he says as he returns to you, “It really is mad this evening.”

Two months after the incident in Osaka, the Inukai clan waits out the last days of winter. With enemies perched quite literally on their doorstep, Lord Inukai’s retainers busy themselves with festival preparations; despite the celebrations, they can’t help but look forward to the coming battles that will arrive in Spring. When the samurai receive a coded message, they must work together to confront an evil spawned from the consequences of their actions.

Merry Bridgetmas! Even during the holiday season, work never stops for the shadowrunners of Seattle. One crew is contacted to eliminate a target VIP at a certain building by a certain time. Of course, getting in a heavily guarded site requires skill, cunning, and good teamwork. This team is not quite as functional though, constantly bickering and arguing. What twists and turns await them and what is Santa carrying in that sack?

The year is Tenshō 10, in the Twelfth month. Six months ago the betrayer Akechi Mitsuhide attacked his master Oda Nobunaga at Honnō-ji, burning it to the ground along with the demon warlord. Snowfall covers the mainland, and a time that should be spent in contemplative seclusion is now spent in clandestine war meetings. Stillness and oppressive silence envelope the countryside, but whispers of secret treachery fill the halls of every daimyō. In Settsu province, Lord Inukai and his loyal retainers meet to discuss the coming war for the title of Shogun.

In the grim dark future, Seattle is home to freelance mercenaries armed with high technology and magic. Called Shadowrunners, they take whatever jobs they can get, even if they involve murder. One such team needs to get blackmail material on a rich man hosting a most unusual convention.
