Call of Cthulhu: For King and Country – Part 1

It is December 6, 1917, just after the battle of Passchendaele. A small group of soldiers are returning to the line after recovering from injuries. They are replacements being added to a unit in a quiet part of the line just north of the Belgian city of Ypres, all of whom are strangers to each other and the units around them. So, as a stopgap they are being delivered to the 255th Battalion of the King’s Regiment (Liverpool).

  1. Awesome, another ASG game! The WW1 games are always a treat and looking forward to the payoff that this game is setting up.

  2. I enjoy your podcasts very much, but sometimes the opening exposition (as in the latest WWI scenario and the DG Oil Rig related one) is extremely long-winded and could use some editing before play.

  3. Author

I understand this style of GMing is not for everyone, but many of our listeners do enjoy them as an occasional episode. In the meantime, we have plenty of games in our back catalogue and I run games for RPPR patrons on Youtube every month – you can find those here for more APs https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCk5eozTiGjdaOrSkgI5vc3g

  4. I honestly enjoyed the exposition at the start. I learned some facts about WWI that I didn’t know and it increased the immersion for me.

  5. I’m one of the folks who enjoys the exposition in Glancy’s games (and in the Great War games, I’d probably be biting my lip to keep from interjecting w/my own exposition).

I was also amused by Glancy explaining the differences between the Anglican church and protestant churches that most of the players & audience are probably familiar with.

  6. Glancy’s WW1 games are less an RPG and more a stealth university lecture.

By the end of the war Caleb, Ross and Aaron will all have bachelor degrees in history.
