Unknown Armies – The Great American Bakery Ascension

Wendy is calling in some favors. Four men owe Wendy big and they have to repay it by doing a small job for her. Saying no is not an option. The job itself sounds pretty simple. Retrieve some cookies, a cake, and a video recording of a failed cooking show shot just outside city limits. Of course, it won’t be that simple. It seems the debtors have some competition, occult groups willing to kill for the baked goods. Join us for our first game of Unknown Armies!

Magical Fury: City A

In the Not-Japan-but-still-totally-Japanese City A, a group of young girls will gain tremendous magical power, but for what reason? More importantly, can these adolescents wield such power wisely or will they cause more damage than they prevent? I ran a one shot of this anime-inspired RPG for Aaron, Heather, and Bill to find out.

The actions of the Gate 9 team have led to a citywide crackdown by the government. That won’t deter the new base raiders from scheming though. A government storage facility has some mighty nice loot, just there for the taking. What could go wrong?

Blue Planet: Deep Shit

A secret underwater lab on the exoplanet Poseidon has gone silent. The last transmission indicates the on site security chief went mad and began to slaughter everyone on the station. A team of commandos from Global Ecology Organization (GEO) has been sent in to investigate why. They will have to deal with storms, the station’s defenses, and a renegade genetically enhanced super soldier.

This session was run by the game’s creator, Jeff Barber. Please check out Biohazard Game’s website to learn more about Blue Planet.

Red Markets: The Great Dismal Swamp

In the decades before the Civil War, runaway slaves found refuge in the Great Dismal Swamp, an enormous expanse of forbidding wilderness on the border between Virginia and North Carolina. They were constantly pressed between the danger of capture and the extreme challenges of material survival in a landscape where even stone and metal were rarefied resources. To this day, only faint traces of their lives and communities can be found deep within the swamp. For one group of new fugitives in the 1850s, their struggles in the swamp are further complicated by a dark force offering an easy way out of their desperate circumstances. What will they choose to do with their hard-won freedom? Ethan adapted the Red Markets system for this scenario, adding some cosmic horror elements (as if economic horror weren’t bad enough).
