Savage Worlds: Accursed at Gen Con 2014

accursed-picIn a world of dark fantasy and perilous adventure, the forces of evil have triumphed. Those who remain uncorrupted by wickedness must rely upon monsters to fight against the darkness. Witches have ruled the land since the last battles of conquest, but their Grand Coven has been sundered, leaving behind remnants of a once-mighty army. The remnants of the horde include captured citizens of the conquered nations that fought as the Witches’ shock troops. Tom contributed to the Kickstarter for this setting and participated in a game run by the creators at Gen Con 2014. I do not have the names of the GM or other players handy, but will edit this post when I get that info.

  1. Well, that was amusing. It kinda sounded like the guy running the other session in the background was doing a better job of narrating the adventure, though.

  2. This got me interested in the setting. Up until I heard this, Accursed didn’t really pique my interest.
Aside from that, I didn’t really get much from this game. I don’t know Savage Worlds, so I had trouble following the action. There wasn’t really anything in the way of an introduction and the background noise made it hard to hear what was going on sometimes. That said, these are totally understandable issues for a recording of a con game.

  3. Kind of rolled my eyes when I first heard of the setting, but it sounds like it could be quite fun to play. Might pick it up in the future.

  4. Sounds like a good time! And it’s nice to see that Tom’s dice still work just as well at cons. Interesting setting, and the playing card mechanic seems really fun to me.

  5. “The mummy has turned his sarcophagus into Hulk hands.”
    “That’s officially awesome.”

while the renaming of the monsters a little offputting, the whole setting of what and concept (I’ve summarized to people as “the pope’s personal movie monster hit squad”) has otherwise won be over. it sounds like a good read, whether or not i’d have the focus enough to read it AND Savage Worlds AND Savage Worlds Horror that’s required, is all
